Village Overview
Scourie is a crofting village located on the west coast of Sutherland. Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the North West Highlands and positioned within the North West Highlands Geopark, the village is known for its striking scenery, diverse wildlife, and strong sense of community.
Despite its remote setting, Scourie is well connected by road to Ullapool, Durness, and Inverness, making it accessible while retaining its peaceful character. The village is also a popular base for exploring the surrounding area, with opportunities for walking, fishing, wildlife observation, and visiting nearby natural and historical sites.
Scourie offers a range of facilities including a primary school, health and social care services, community spaces such as the village hall and pavilion, and a number of independent businesses. At its heart, Scourie remains a place where people live, work, and care for the land and each other — a proud and welcoming community on Scotland’s wild and beautiful northwest coast.
